Michaela Coe
Associate Architectus
Michaela is a dynamic senior architect, with wide-ranging experience pertaining towards innovative education projects for the Department of Education, Sydney Catholic Schools and other Independent Schools in NSW.
Michaela has driven first-class outcomes in the education space, often taking a high-level overseeing approach to large State Significant Developments. She leads stakeholder relations including concept engagement sessions, presentations and design reviews on projects from concept phase to completion. Interfacing with educators, academics, and architects as a passionate advocate for student engagement and empowerment, she maintains a deep commitment to quality learning spaces, seeking opportunities to contribute to the next wave of infrastructural development in Sydney with impact.
Michaela works as a lead Designer on multiple large educational precinct masterplans. A keystone in her development has been through her contribution to the Parramatta Schools project - Arthur Phillip High School; New South Wales’ first high-rise school.
More recently, she has contributed towards three ground-breaking State Significant Developments in the past six months. Outside this she has led the development of an innovative Playscapes project at Northern Beaches Christian School – with a focus on strategic development plans; working with contractors and consultants to evoke transformation strategically. These projects range from $6M to $160M in capital investment value.
Michaela’s project experience includes Arthur Phillip High School and Parramatta Public School; The Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children’s New Centre of Excellence; Northern Beaches Christian School; Marist Catholic College North Shore; Monash University’s Woodside Building; Blessed Carlo College (Moama) and John Edmondson High School (Liverpool).
Michaela has achieved significant industry recognition, most recently joining the NSW chapter of Learning Environments Australasia as a committee member. Having been awarded the Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarship for her paper “Future Proofing Education” in 2018, She has also tutored design at the University of Technology and guest-lectured by invitation abroad.
