Edie Kaehne
Graduate Structural Engineer
AECOM
Edith (Edie) has a strong passion for the built environment and aspires to incorporate more efficient and sustainable solutions, such as modular design and embodied carbon analyses, into the current industry.
Edie completed her studies in mid-2020, graduating from Monash University with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and Bachelor of Commerce (Finance). Edie spent a semester abroad at the Denmark Technical University, living in one of the most sustainable and happiest countries in the world. Edie was inspired by how the urban environment and Scandinavian lifestyle provides such a positive social impact to the community.
During her degree, Edie led the creation of a QGIS database in her role as an Undergraduate Engineer for GeoAust Geotechnical Engineers, collating the company’s 30 years of geotechnical information.
Edie was also a Cadet at leading, tier-one construction company, Multiplex. She was involved in the design management, quality assurance, OHSE and project completion stages, working across both a small-scale education project and a large, mixed-use development.
Currently, Edie is a Graduate Structural Engineer in the AECOM Buildings + Places team in Melbourne. Joining the AECOM team as an Undergraduate in late 2019, Edie has since worked on projects across a range of sectors including commercial, defense and aviation. Edie thrives on collaboration and enjoys seeing how the creative power of diverse teams can ensure the building solution aligns to the goals of the client and bring value to the wider community.
Although only early in her career, Edie has gained a diverse work experience and able to draw on this to challenge traditional building design practices to increase the productivity, efficiency, and sustainability of the construction industry.
